The Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society (MCRS) is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team as Newsletter Contributors. This role involves writing articles, gathering information, and sourcing pictures for our monthly newsletter. Main duties of this position:
Article Writing: Research and write engaging, informative, and heartwarming articles for the monthly newsletter. Topics may include rabbit care, health tips, success stories, volunteer spotlights, and upcoming events.
Information Gathering: Collect relevant and accurate information to support articles, including interviews with volunteers, foster parents, and rabbit owners.
Photography Coordination: Source high-quality images to complement newsletter content. This may involve taking photos, coordinating with photographers, or requesting images from volunteers and foster parents.
Content Planning: Collaborate with the editorial team to brainstorm and plan future newsletter content, ensuring a diverse range of topics and timely coverage of MCRS activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with the newsletter editor and other volunteers to align newsletter content with MCRS’ mission and goals.
Qualifications/Experience:
Writing Skills: Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to create engaging and informative content.
Research Skills: Ability to gather, verify, and synthesize information from various sources.
Technology Skills: Proficiency or ability to learn Mailchimp
Attention to Detail: Strong editing and proofreading skills to ensure high-quality content.
Photography Skills: Basic photography skills or the ability to coordinate with photographers to obtain suitable images.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with volunteers, foster parents, and other stakeholders.
Passion for Animal Welfare: A genuine love for rabbits and a commitment to promoting their well-being.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
This role will typically require a time commitment of approximately 4 hours per month. The schedule is flexible, with the majority of the work being completed remotely.
