MCRS Year-end Update

Happy New Year Dear Friends of MCRS,

We'd like to end 2016 by expressing our gratitude: we're so thankful for each one of our volunteers, each donor, and each one of you that shares our message of adoption, education, and compassion for adoptable rabbits.

2016 in review:
Adoptions = 77
Intakes = 77
Rabbits currently in MCRS care = 36

We hope you're looking forward to 2017. Plans are in the works for new MCRS events, new fundraisers, new locations, and of course, preparing for new foster bunnies! If you'd like to help out, please contact us at info@mncompanionrabbit.org and indicate how you'd like to volunteer!

If you would like to include MCRS in your holiday giving, you can make a donation on our website, or at GiveMN.org. You can also send us a check to:

MCRS Holiday Shirt Campaign

Give to the Max Thank you all for helping us to achieve our holiday fundraising goal! Because of wonderful donors like you, we were able to sell 51 shirts, raising a total amount of $600 for bunnies in need. We plan to host another shirt fundraiser soon, so please stay tuned!

For those of you who purchased a shirt, your order will ship by Jan. 8th.

Also, we are selling 2017 calendars which you can find at the next adoption event or South Saint Paul Hoppy Hour. If you are interested in purchasing one, please plan to bring $15.

Thank you all so much and Happy New Year!

Should Your Rabbit Live Free-Range in Your Home?

It's no secret to a lot of us that rabbits make wonderful pets, but if you've never had a rabbit before and you are thinking about getting one knowing more about them as pets and what to expect is important. Each month we will be sharing a video that features Actress Amy Sedaris, who is a loving mom to her own pet bunny, and rabbit expert Augy E. Cotter, Ed.D., LVT from the House Rabbit Society.

In this Month's video, learn if your rabbit should live free-range in your home.

Foster Homes

The foster program is an essential part of our mission. Without our dedicated foster families we wouldn't be able to help the many rabbits we do each year. Providing a foster home for one of these rabbits can be a very rewarding experience and literally saves a life!

Supplies
MCRS will supply all the equipment you will need - cage, litterbox, food & hay. MCRS also covers any medical expenses for foster rabbits. Your only out-of-pocket expense is for the fresh greens & veggies you feed your foster rabbit - and even that is a tax-deductible donation!

All you need is:
•a space in your home for a cage & some play space for the rabbit.
•an hour or so daily to provide socialization and care.
•a willingness to learn about the proper care of rabbits.
•convenient access to email is strongly preferred.
•ability to transport rabbit to periodic adoption events is preferred, but not required.

Please contact MCRS at info@mncompanionrabbit.org if you are able to help. Thank you!

Volunteers are not just important to MCRS, they literally are MCRS. Volunteers do everything that needs to be done within the organization from picking up the mail to caring for homeless rabbits to keeping financial records to scooping litter boxes.

Interested in Volunteering? See all of our available volunteer positions on our website.
