Give to the Max Day 2015

give to the maxOnce again, MCRS will participate in Give to the Max Day, a 24-hour online give-a-thon. On November 12th, MCRS and other nonprofits will benefit during this record-breaking fundraising event. Last year, MCRS raised over $3000 for the care of our adoptable rabbits! This year, our goal is to raise $5000 to continue our mission of education and adoption.

Your donation on Give to the Max Day also may help us receive an additional donation of $1,000. How? On November 12th, every gift made on GiveMN.org will be entered into an hourly drawing for a $1,000 Golden Ticket to be awarded to a nonprofit organization. That adds up to 24 opportunities for you to help us receive an extra $1,000! Here's the really exciting part: At the end of Give to the Max Day, one donation made on GiveMN.org will be randomly selected to receive a $10,000 Super-Sized Golden Ticket.

If you aren't able to donate on November 12th, you can still participate by scheduling your donation today! Visit our GiveMN page, and fill out the donation form; all donations made through November 11th will automatically be processed on Give to the Max Day! And scheduled donations are still eligible for the bonus awards. Check the MCRS Facebook page and your email inbox for updates about how to help MCRS during Give to the Max Day on November 12th!

Best Carrier for a Pet Rabbit

It's no secret to a lot of us that rabbits make wonderful pets, but if you've never had a rabbit before and you are thinking about getting one knowing more about them as pets and what to expect is important. Each month we will be sharing a video that features Actress Amy Sedaris, who is a loving mom to her own pet bunny, and rabbit expert Augy E. Cotter, Ed.D., LVT from the House Rabbit Society.

In this Month's video, learn what is the best carrier for a pet rabbit.

Ten Reasons Rabbits are the Most Underrated Housepets

testedBy: Carolyn Ayton, Read full article, here.

1) They can live in your house just like a dog or cat.

2) They're easy to please.

3) They're very healthy eaters.

4) Rabbits get along with other animals. Of course, this will depend on the individual animal, but many rabbits live happily alongside dogs and cats.

5) You can train them to use a litterbox!

6) Rabbits are exceptionally clean.

7) You haven't lived until you've seen a bunny flop.

8) They'll be with you a long time. Rabbits usually live seven to ten years.

9) Rabbits are usually cheaper to adopt.

10) They're just precious.

If you're thinking about taking in a rabbit, please consider adopting! So many sweet bunnies are sitting in shelters waiting to find a home. See all of our adoptable bunnies.

in remembrance

Duchess (formerly Ruby) crossed the rainbow bridge on September 21st 2015 after only 4 short months with our family. Her digestive issues were too much for her and she went peacefully in our arms with bonded companion Duke by her sideā€¦.we miss her sweet gentle spirit everyday. RIP sweet baby.

Foster Homes

The foster program is an essential part of our mission. Without our dedicated foster families we wouldn't be able to help the many rabbits we do each year. Providing a foster home for one of these rabbits can be a very rewarding experience and literally saves a life!

MCRS will supply all the equipment you will need - cage, litterbox, litter, food & hay. MCRS also covers any medical expenses for foster rabbits. Your only out-of-pocket expense is for the fresh greens & veggies you feed your foster rabbit - and even that is a tax-deductible donation!

All you need is:
•a space in your home for a cage & some play space for the rabbit.
•an hour or so daily to provide socialization and care.
•a willingness to learn about the proper care of rabbits.
•convenient access to email is strongly preferred.
•ability to transport rabbit to periodic adoption events is preferred, but not required.

Please contact MCRS at info@mncompanionrabbit.org if you are able to help. Thank you!

Volunteers are not just important to MCRS, they literally are MCRS. Volunteers do everything that needs to be done within the organization from picking up the mail to caring for homeless rabbits to keeping financial records to scooping litter boxes.

Interested in Volunteering? See all of our available volunteer positions on our website.

All media, please contact Shelley Chirhart, MCRS Public Relations & Marketing Manager at info@mncompanionrabbit.org or 651-768-9755.
