It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Harriet. Her passing was incredibly sudden, so we are hopeful she wasn’t in a moment of pain. She had been hopping around my feet in the morning for breakfast, had been eating and drinking normally during the day, and by the time I brought dinner in, she was gone. We were so lucky to have her as part of our family for the past five years. She made us a family, ignited a love of rabbits, and taught us about patience and compassion. For those of you who knew her, so was sassy little girl who liked things done her way. She picked out a fellow MCRS friend not long after we adopted her and four years later, she and Meeko finally bonded. They spent the past year living wholly as house rabbits. They spent time grooming each other, sitting smushed together, and running down the hallway from the kitchen to play in the living room. She loved tearing up boxes with Meeko and teaching Meeko how to sneak water from our dog’s water dish. Thank you to all of you who were part of her foster journey until she found her forever home. MCRS volunteers are truly the best.
